The obvious solution to this would be to go cordless. There are a variety of cordless clippers out there but they can cost a pretty penny, and if I were to replace my entire corded setup for a cordless ones it would have been a several hundred dollar investment. Which I could not commit to at the moment. I had previously owned a pair of Wahl magic clips that came in a pair with a trimmer that had a quick connect cord which was one cord for both clippers. It was great until the clippers would begin to turn off and on and eventually stopped working.

I thought that there should be something similar for all types of clippers. I later came across this company on Instagram called Omni Cord. They sold something similar to what I previously had in the Wahl Magic clip quick connect, however they offered it for all of the clippers and trimmers I owned. I messaged back and forth for a while and finally made up my mind to purchase the quick connects for each clipper that was in my station which was 6 plus one power cord. The total cost was about $135 with shipping and taxes. Seemed reasonable to me for what I was purchasing. I waited a couple of weeks because some of the connectors I ordered were on back order but once I received the email that my items had shipped, which was on a Tuesday. I received my order that Thursday. I then went about installing them which took a total of about an hour and a half for my six clippers and two trimmers. The adapter cords are thick and the power cord is very sturdy feeling and long enough to maneuver around your station it looks to be about 8 feet if not more. It also has a ground on it for clippers that have a three-pronged power cord such as the Andis GTX. I fastened the adapter to the power cord and it did not feel loose or unsecured. The only way those cords are separating is if you push the silver tab on the power cord and then pull them apart. I knew I wouldn’t have to worry about them coming off if they were to get caught on my chairs foot rest or something.

For the installation, they were all mostly plug and play and I didn’t have to trim the adapters to fit into the clipper housings. The only one that took a little bit more effort were my Wahl detailers. The terminal from the quick connect that goes into the clipper were just slightly too big. So what I did was cut off the new connectors, exposed the wiring on the old terminal and connected them together followed by a small amount of electrical tape. They fit and worked perfectly after that. Everything else was really plug and play. My Wahl senior was probably the easiest install out of all of the clippers.

I’ve had my set up for a week and a half and it is completely worth the investment and about the next best thing to a cordless clipper without worrying about sacrificing power. I no longer have clutter on my station and can easily store my clippers in my drawers without worrying about the power cords bending or getting damaged. Omni Cord is something I definitely recommend to anyone that may have a crowded workstation and was considering going all cordless.
