Boston Strikes Back for Barbershops and Salons!

Like most cities & states, the corona-virus has hit the barber and beauty industries extremely hard. In Boston, several barbers and stylists have repeatedly contacted the Governor & Mayor’s offices to remind them of one of the cities most important industries, hardships and coming challenges.
Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker took one big step in their relationship with the Barbershop and Salon owners this week. While Charlie’s trip to a local Boston favorite was great for the optics, Marty’s insistent reference to hearing their concerns stood out clearly.
The Mayor announced a $6 million relief campaign to help businesses, but specifically salon & shop owners, with funding and well needed assistance with the purchasing of PPE, sanitation supplies and social distancing orders.
Here, Roxbury barbershop owner Allah Mathematics tells Fox 25 news his disgust with the way the first round of funding missed his neighborhood.
Also, BarberTime Founder, Euan Davis also speaks to Fox 25 news on the challenges of daycare for the returning workers of the industry.
The applications for the funds begin today at 5pm giving people time to shift through their busy returns and gather the necessary requirements to apply.
