Celebrities Did Not Help Clinton
The results of the 2016 Presidential election were stunning, to say the least. No one saw what happened coming. Hilary Clinton had all the backing, all the endorsements, all the momentum, but in the end, Donald Trump was elected and will become the 45th President of the United States.
Clinton enjoyed wave upon wave of celebrity endorsements and backing, gaining the support of mega stars like LeBron James, Jay-Z, Beyonce and Katy Perry, among many others who all gave their support to the former first lady and Secretary of State. Some celebs, including Bryan Cranston, even went so far as to pledge that they would move to Canada if Trump were to win.
Trump’s major celebrity backing came from people like Ted Nugent and Scott Baio, who are well, somewhat of has-been’s. However, this proved that while celebrity endorsements and backing can most definitely garner excitement for a particular candidate, they usually hold little weight in eliciting votes for that candidate. In the end, Trump was his own endorsement, and that ultimately proved to be enough for him to get elected to office.
